Gabriel Ion Gal, who lived in Mountmellick, will be laid to rest in Romania at a later date.
Gardaí in Laois are renewing their appeal for information after the death of a cyclist in the county earlier this month.
Gabriel Ion Gal died after his bike collided with a railing on College Avenue in Mountmellick on May 3rd at around 4.30pm.
Mr Gal, who was in his 50s, lived in the town and worked at Midlands Steel.
A prayer service was held at St Joseph's Church on Friday while his remains will be laid to rest in Romania at a later date.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the area, who may have witnessed the accident to contact Mountmellick Garda Station
