A Laois woman is writing to the Attorney General to question why a driver banned for life can get back on the road.
Brian Kelly was convicted of dangerous driving causing the death of Claire Hennessy in Portlaoise in 2008 but the Court of Appeal has recently reduced the disqualification to 20 years.
The Judge noted that permanent bans are usually only appropriate in exceptional cases involving re-offending.
The victim’s sister Yvonne disagrees, saying life should mean life, especially if no remorse is shown:
