Majority Of Older People Want An Independent Commissioner For Ageing In Ireland

A similar system is in place in Northern Ireland and Wales.

An overwhelming majority of older people surveyed want an Independent Commissioner for Ageing in Ireland. 

The role, already in place in Northern Ireland and Wales, would see a person appointed like an Ombudsman to advocate for over 65s. 

94% of older people surveyed by Active Retirement Ireland say they wanted the office set up here.
