Midlands Couple Facing Deportation

They moved to Ireland from South Africa in 2016.

Athlone IT Student's Union is pleading with the Justice Minister to revoke the deportation of a couple, who are studying at the college.

Azwidohwi David Nesengani is in his second year of Social Care, while his wife Fortunate is part of the access programme.

They moved to Ireland from South Africa in 2016, but are being ordered to leave by next Thursday, after being refused refugee status and subsidiary protection.

SU President Áine Daly is calling on Laois-Offaly Fine Gael TD, Minister Charlie Flanagan to show compansion and review the deportation order.

She says it's dangerous for them to return to South Africa:
