Midlands Regional Hospital in Portlaoise is apologising for inconveniences caused.
Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise is reiterating that it is continuing to experience high patient admission numbers.
Management is urging people with non-emergency illnesses or injuries to consider alternative care options such as a pharmacist, GP, or GP out-of-hours service where appropriate.
They are advising that patients attending the Emergency Department with non-urgent conditions are likely to face lengthy waiting times.
Hospital management says those presenting with less serious conditions are experiencing significant delays before being assessed.
Staff and management have apologised for the disruption and thanked the public for their continued patience, cooperation and understanding.
