Portiuncula Hospital is praising its team for supporting 'women and families at every stage of their maternity journey.'
Clinical Midwife Manager Lisa Mahony says the job is special as it places people 'at the heart of one of life's most profound and transformative moments.'
She adds that it goes beyond just medical care; they also offer emotional support, reassurance, and guidance to women on their pregnancy journey and beyond.
The awareness day was first marked in 1992 by the International Confederation of Midwives to highlight the role the profession plays in providing safe and compassionate care.
