Midlands House Prices Finally Falling

The latest report from Daft.ie shows the average cost of a new home in the region is €246,000, a drop of nearly half a percent on last quarters figures.

House prices may have fallen for the first time since mid-2020, but they're still 4.5 percent higher than the first quarter of last year.

Westmeath remains the most expensive county in the region in terms of housing, with the average newly-built home setting you back €261,000 .

That's followed by the figure in Offaly, where the average cost of a home is €243,000.

If you're looking for value for money, Laois is likely going to be the most attractive county in the region, with the average price being €235,000.

Nationally, house prices have fallen by point three percent, and now sit at €308,000.

CEO of the Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers and Castlepollard's Pat Davitt says the latest figures point to the possibility of prices levelling off:
