The population in the Midlands is slowly getting older according to new figures from the CSO.
New data on Population estimates gathered from administrative data shows the average age in 2023 went up to 37 years from 36.5 in 2020.
While Westmeath had the highest population estimate in 2023 at over 103,000 people across its four electorial areas of Moate, Athlone, Kinnegad and Mullingar.
Laois has an estimate of around 95,780 with Offaly at over 88,160.
Nationally, the oldest average population stood at 40.4 years in Dun Laoghaire- Rathdown.
