That's according to the findings of the latest Irish Business Against Litter report.
A midlands town is one of the cleanest in the country.
The latest Irish Business Against Litter report ranked Mullingar fifth, with nine out of the ten sites in the town getting the top litter grade.
Portlaoise, Athlone and Tullamore have also cracked the top 25, and have been labelled "Clean to European Norms."
For the first time since surveys began, no area has been labelled ‘seriously littered’ in 2023.
While litter levels rose slightly overall, over 60 per cent of towns surveyed were deemed clean.
IBAL spokesperson Conor Horgan says Maynooth spruced up extremely well:
Just one site is preventing Mullingar from being named the cleanest in the country.
Nine out of ten sites in Mullingar received the top litter grade, with the Recycling Centre just falling short.
