Pauline McLynn is urging those who can to adopt the hens who were destined for slaughter.
A Laois animal sanctuary is partnering with Pauline McLynn - known best as Father Ted's Ms. Doyle - to encourage the people of the midlands to adopt a hen this weekend.
It's part of an initiative from Little Hill Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, which is re-homing hens destined for the slaughterhouse.
They're coming to Abbeyleix, Athlone and Moate on Saturday and Castlepollard, Stradbally, Rathdowney and Durrow on Sunday.
