A number of water supply schemes in the midlands are at risk of drought.
Irish Water say in Offaly, Dunkerrin and Mountbolus are at risk of going into drought.
While in Laois, the schemes in Portarlington, Rosenallis, Ballyroan, The Swan, Mountmellick and Portlaoise are either in or at risk of going into drought.
Westmeath County Council and Waterways Ireland are monitoring the water levels in Lough Owel, which supplies the Portloman Water Treatment Plant in Mullingar.
Irish Water says it's 'likely' that a hosepipe ban will be needed if the dry spell of weather continues.
Its spokesperson Yvonne Harris says they're continuing to monitor the supplies:
Overnight water restictions are being put in place in Westmeath, as result of this shortage.
Irish Water customers in Coole, Castlepollard, Delvin, Clonmellon, Raharney and surrounding areas will be affected.
The restrictions will be in place from 10 o'clock tonight until 6 o'clock tomorrow morning.
The utility says they're necessary to allow reservoirs to refill.
