Restrictions are being put in place to allow water levels to recover in the reservoir following a mechanical failure.
Irish water customers in Westmeath are facing overnight disruption to their supply.
Restrictions are being put in place on the Castlepollard Public Water Supply Scheme to allow water levels to recover in the reservoir following a mechanical failure.
Customers in Delvin, Coole, Castlepollard, Raharney, and surrounding areas will be impacted from 10pm tonight, until 6am tomorrow.
Customers in the Athlone area will also be affected during the same times tonight - as water levels recover in the Annagh Reservoir following recent works.
Statement from Irish Water:
Irish Water and Westmeath County Council wish to advise customers on the Castlepollard Public Water Supply Scheme served by the Ballany Low Level Reservoir that an overnight water restriction is necessary tonight in order to allow water levels to recover in the reservoir following a mechanical failure.
In order to allow for the continued recovery of the water supply, a water restriction will be in place from 10pm tonight, Tuesday 1st October, until 6am tomorrow morning, Wednesday, 2nd October, which will impact customers in Delvin, Coole, Castlepollard, Raharney, and surrounds in Co. Westmeath.
This necessary night-time restriction is being put in place to ensure customers have a water supply to their homes and businesses during the daytime. This action is being taken to ensure that there is an adequate quantity of water available to supply industries, schools, residences and commercial activities during business hours.
The water supply will restore to customers as the network refills. It can take a number of hours for the water to restore to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network once the water supply is turned back on. We expect that supply will return to customers between 6 am and 8am as the water returns to the network.
Our customer care helpline is open 24/7 on 1850 278 278 and customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries. For updates please see the water supply and services section of our website.
