Midland Regional Hospital Portlaoise is implementing visiting restrictions to reduce the spread of flu and Covid 19
The hospital is reporting a high number of people presenting with respiratory viral illness.
Only one visitor will be permitted per patient during visiting hours, with certain exceptions to be made by contacting the sfatt ward in advance.
These measures will be kept under review.
In addition, where possible, the hospital is asking people with non-emergency conditions to consider alternative options such as pharmacies, GPs and injury units
