The number of patients waiting for public counselling appointments for over a six month period across Ireland is up by over 40%.
New figures reported by the Irish Independent shows the Dublin/Midlands region alongside Dublin North East and South East accounted for 65% of patients waiting for Counselling in Primary Care.
The CIPC is a free program under the National Counselling Centre offered to people aged over 18 who hold a medical card.
It covers mental health difficulties such as depression, anxiety and stress alongside other stressful situations like bereavement, loss and relationship problems.
