Roses Ready To Perform

The Laois and Offaly Roses are on stage this evening.

Hopeful Roses will be taking to the stage this evening in their bid to become the 2023 Rose of Tralee.

There will be two midlands representatives taking to the Dome stage with Laois' Sinead Dowd is the sixth contestant this evening followed by Offaly's Allie Leahy, who is on 12th.

Ottawa Rose Aoife McDonald has strong links to the midlands with her father being from Portarlington. She will take to the stage tomorrow evening along with Longford Grace Kemple.

They will be appearing before an audience of 2,000 people in the Munster Technological University.

The initial Rose competition was first held in Tralee in 1959 and is now estimated to be worth close on 20 million euro per year to the local economy.

The Mayor of Tralee, Johnny Wall, says the town gets global coverage it couldn't afford to buy:

Daithi O Sé says having Kathryn Thomas as his co-host will bring something extra to the Rose of Tralee.

He says he can't wait to share the stage with his good friend.
