The cost of living crisis and an increasing number of veterans are to blame for a rise in the number of former troops seeking help from a charity.
Kildare South TD Cathal Berry's comments come as Óglaigh Náisiúnta na hÉireann says it's helped more than 1,000 veterans out of homelessness.
There are around 140,000 retired members of the Defence Forces in Ireland.
ONE has homes in Athlone, Letterkenny, Cobh and Dublin, and has launched a new clothing line to raise funds for the charity.
Independent Deputy Berry says the Defence Forces also has a role to play in assisting its retired troops:
