They do expect accounts to balance at year end.
Westmeath County Council is running at a deficit of close to €147,000, according to its half year revenue report.
It cost just over €47 million to run the local authority from January to June.
The Director of Finance says the continuing impact on the council’s finances is severe and, unlike 2020, the consequences of the pandemic were felt from the beginning of this year.
Jimmy Dalton told the council’s most recent meeting that some areas, like Mullingar Swimming Pool, had little or no income for much of the year but still have associated costs.
He expects the budget to balance by the end of what he's calling a challenging year.
