Ireland is not on course to meet its goals in reducing STI's according to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre.
A Westmeath nurse says it's important to put time aside to schedule regular STI testing.
It follows the Health Protection Surveillance Centre stating Ireland is currently not on track to meet its goals of reducing STI's, and ending epidemics as a public health concern by 2030.
Recent statistics from the centre show that 100 new HIV cases were recorded in Ireland last year up to a total of 881.
That's up from 781 in 2023 - with some infections like syphilis also rising by more than 15%.
