CCPC Adds Conditions To Proposed Deal
The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission is approving the sale of Bord na Móna Recycling to a private company in Kerry.
The CCPC wants the buyer, a subsidiary of KWD Group, to offload customers in certain parts of Leinster and Munster to other collectors and an independent monitoring trustee will be appointed to oversee the process.
Despite the decision, the watchdog says the household waste collection market is not delivering strong outcomes for consumers and feels structural changes are needed, including the appointment of a new regulator.
The sale of Bord na Móna Recycling is still subject to Ministerial approval, with unions lobbying for rejection of the deal.
