There's been mixed reaction to the garda checkpoints, aimed at discouraging people from taking unnecessary journeys.
Gardaí are warning motorists to expect delays over the coming weeks due to Operation Fanacht.
132 checkpoints have been placed nationwide as part of Level 3 covid restrictions.
Drivers are being asked to consider whether their journey is really essential.
